Arusha National Park: A Hidden Gem of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit

One of the park’s most famous residents is the colobus monkey. Arusha National Park is also home to several other primate species, including the blue monkey and the verve monkey.

While not as well-known as Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru offers a challenging climb with incredible views of the surrounding landscape. The trek typically takes three to four days, and hikers can overnight in mountain huts along the way.
Another popular activity in the park is game drives. While the park may not have the same number of large mammals as other parks in Tanzania, there are still plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife. Giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and warthogs are all common sights in the park, and lucky visitors may even spot a leopard or hyena.
One of the most unique features of Arusha National Park is its close proximity to the city of Arusha. While this may not sound like a big deal, it means that visitors can easily combine a visit to the park with other activities in the area. From shopping at local markets to visiting coffee plantations or cultural villages, there’s plenty to do in and around Arusha.
